HOW DO I PAY WITH CRYPTOCURRENCY ON 101DOMUS?
On 101domus, you can also pay securely with cryptocurrencies thanks to our integration with BitPay. This guide walks you through each step of the payment process to ensure a smooth and transparent experience.
CRYPTOCURRENCY VIA BITPAY
If you select “Cryptocurrency via BitPay” as your payment method at checkout and click on “Place Order,” you will be automatically redirected to BitPay to complete the payment.
BitPay is a trusted service that handles millions of transactions every year.
BITPAY ID VERIFICATION REQUIRED
Paying with cryptocurrency on 101domus via BitPay is not only simple, but also secure and compliant with international data protection standards.
WHY BITPAY REQUIRES IDENTITY VERIFICATION
Before completing your cryptocurrency payment, BitPay will require you to complete a short identity verification process called BitPay ID. This step is mandatory for all orders placed on 101domus, as BitPay operates in Europe through its regulated entity, BitPay B.V.
Why is verification required?
- For security purposes, to protect customers and prevent fraud or abuse
- To simplify refund processing — verified identities make it easier and safer to issue refunds
- To comply with international financial regulations (KYC/AML standards)
The identity verification process can be started either during checkout on 101domus or directly through BitPay’s official platform.
In both cases, you’ll need to complete the verification and then use the email address and password associated with your BitPay account to log in and confirm your identity when making your cryptocurrency payment.
STARTING ID VERIFICATION FROM THE 101DOMUS CHECKOUT
When you select “Cryptocurrency via BitPay” as your payment method and click “Place Order”, you’ll be redirected to the BitPay payment page.
If your identity has not yet been verified, BitPay will automatically start the BitPay ID process before allowing you to proceed with the transaction.
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Log in or create a BitPay ID account using your email and a password.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to upload a valid identity document (e.g., passport or driver’s license).
- Take a selfie or a short video for facial verification.
- Wait a few seconds for your identity to be verified.
- Once approved, you'll return to the invoice page and be able to complete your payment.
The verification is secure and typically takes just a few minutes. BitPay uses Onfido, a trusted provider of identity verification services.
What happens if the 15-minute payment window expires?
No worries — if you don’t complete the payment within the 15-minute time limit, the BitPay invoice will simply expire. In that case, you’ll just need to start a new order on 101domus, by adding the product(s) to your cart again and going through checkout.
If you’ve already completed the identity verification with BitPay, you won’t need to do it again. Just log in with the same BitPay ID, and you’ll be ready to pay.
STARTING ID VERIFICATION ON BITPAY’S OFFICIAL PLATFORM
If you prefer, you can complete your identity verification before placing an order, directly through BitPay’s secure website. This option is especially useful if you want to avoid interruptions during checkout or feel more comfortable interacting directly with BitPay.
Follow these steps:
- Visit https://bitpay.com/id/verify?dest=id
- Create a BitPay ID or log in with your existing credentials.
- Go to Settings → Get Verified.
- Upload a valid identity document (passport, national ID, or driver’s license, depending on your country).
- Take a selfie or short video for facial recognition.
- Wait for the system to confirm your identity (usually within a few minutes).
Important: Remember the email and password you used to register your BitPay ID — you’ll need to use those same credentials when paying on 101domus to link your identity to the transaction.
Once verified, your BitPay ID can be used for all future purchases and refunds, without repeating the process.
SELECTING THE PAYMENT WALLET AND CRYPTOCURRENCY
Once you’ve completed the BitPay ID verification process, you can proceed with your order payment.
Step 1: Select your wallet provider
BitPay supports over 100 wallets. Choose yours from the list (e.g., Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or connect via WalletConnect).
Step 2: Select the cryptocurrency
BitPay will show only the cryptocurrencies that your selected wallet supports and that are valid for the invoice (e.g. BTC, ETH, USDC). If the currency you want is not listed, it may not be compatible with your wallet or invoice.
Once both items are selected, BitPay generates a temporary invoice with:
- The exact amount to send
- A QR code
- A wallet address for manual payment
- A 15-minute countdown timer
Step 3: Send the Payment
To complete the payment, open your crypto wallet and use one of the following methods:
- Scan the QR code displayed on the invoice using your mobile wallet
- Click “Pay in Wallet” (for supported wallets with payment protocol support)
- Use WalletConnect to open and authorize the transaction from your mobile device
- Copy and paste the payment address and amount manually into your wallet’s “Send” section
Important: Always send the exact amount shown on the invoice. If the amount differs, the payment will not be accepted.
You have approximately 15 minutes to complete the transaction before the invoice expires. A countdown timer will be shown on the screen to guide you.
WAITING FOR BLOCKCHAIN CONFIRMATION
Once your payment has been manually approved, there’s nothing else you need to do — you can close the invoice page and simply wait for the blockchain to confirm the transaction. This step usually takes around 15 minutes, but in some cases it may take longer, especially if the network is experiencing high traffic.
After your transaction has been broadcast to the blockchain, you’ll receive an email from BitPay letting you know that "Your payment is confirming". This means the system has recognized your transaction, but it still needs to reach the required number of confirmations before it’s considered complete. Each blockchain has its own confirmation rules, so the exact time can vary depending on the cryptocurrency you used.
As soon as your transaction is fully confirmed, the invoice will be marked as paid, and 101domus will proceed with verifying your order and sending you all relevant order communications.
In rare cases where the transaction doesn’t get confirmed — for example, due to network congestion or low transaction fees — the funds will automatically return to your wallet. This refund process is handled by the blockchain itself and may take 48 to 72 hours, depending on the network and your wallet provider.

TIPS AND NOTES ABOUT BITPAY INVOICE PAYMENTS
BitPay suggests using a wallet that supports Payment Protocol (such as the BitPay Wallet). Payment Protocol ensures the cryptocurrency you send is exactly the right amount and includes a high enough fee to confirm your transaction. This helps reduce costly time-consuming payment errors.
