Nine Italian makers of classical furniture and lighting, chosen from their catalogues for their closeness to your painted, panelled and layered interiors.
Your practice works with the architectural heritage of each building, with classical proportion, antiques and bespoke craftsmanship. From a Regency mansion in Shropshire, a 1650s manor house on Dartmoor and a late Georgian house in the Scottish Borders to the townhouses of Chelsea, Notting Hill and Belgravia, we looked for makers who work in that language: panelled rooms and libraries, marquetry, painted and gilded pieces, crystal and pleated-shade lighting.

Why: English-style cabinetry, as shown. Hospitality references include the Hotel Savoy in London and the restoration of a 15th-century Gothic palace on the Grand Canal in Venice.
Painted, gilded and upholstered
Painted and gilded

Why: A library corner: a leaded-glass bookcase, wood wainscot and a carved armchair in damask. Cromie collection, shown in a historic room.
