Lantern Cabanas for the Sushisamba Beach Club in Doha

At the Waldorf Astoria Lusail in Doha, DFN designed and built five maxi cabanas for the pool deck of the first Sushisamba Beach Club in the world. Each is a free-standing structure up to five metres high, placed along the pool like a row of oversized lanterns.

The shells have a woven, lantern-inspired texture cut into a regular geometric pattern. By day the openings throw moving shadows across the loungers inside; at night the cabanas are lit from within and become glowing volumes that mark the beach club from across the water. DFN loungers and side tables in matching tones furnish each cabana and the surrounding pool deck.

For hotel developers and F&B operators looking at Italian furniture for hospitality projects, the Sushisamba cabanas show DFN working at the scale of small architecture, with structure, lighting and furniture engineered together.
