Orangerie Café and Chocolate Boutique at Katara Village, Doha
In Katara Cultural Village, Doha, DFN designed and built the Orangerie, a chocolate boutique and café housed in a free-standing iron-and-glass structure. DFN followed the project through every phase, from concept drawings to production and installation on site.
The building takes the form of a classical European orangery, with a glazed pitched roof on slender iron ribs, and adapts it to Qatar's climate with contemporary glazing and construction technology. Inside, DFN supplied the decorative façades, the patterned cement-tile flooring, the wrought-iron tables and chairs and the ceiling installation of crystal chandeliers and bird sculptures that gives the room its character.
