Varenne is a new interpretation of the classic monocoque chair, where a curved plywood shell is mounted on a tubular steel base. These two elements are enriched by the personality of leather. From this sartorial approach comes the design of folds, cuts, and stitching: at the front edge of the seat, the leather is turned underneath to soften the contact with the legs; and on the upper edge of the backrest, it folds backward like a flap, deliberately generous to form a handle for lifting and moving the stool easily. The metal structure is a simple “trestle” that supports this “saddle,” named after a famous and elegant Italian trotter.
