Varenne is a new interpretation of the classic monocoque chair, where a curved plywood shell is mounted on a tubular steel base. These two elements are enhanced by the personality of leather. From this tailoring intent comes the design of folds, cuts, and stitching: at the front edge of the seat, the leather is turned under to soften contact with the legs; while the top edge of the backrest folds backward like a flap, deliberately generous to form a grip—a handle for easily lifting and moving the chair. The metal frame is a simple “trestle” that supports this “saddle,” named after a famous and extremely elegant Italian trotter.
