The Calice dining table is one of the most ambitious pieces in Francesco Molon's Eclectica collection, built around a dramatic backlit centrepiece. The structure is built in dense, dark-grained ebony makassar wood, finished with hand-applied silver leaf detailing along its edges and legs. Running down the centre of the table is an inset of honey onyx, fitted with an integrated backlighting system that makes the stone glow softly from within. The table is scaled for the grandest formal dining rooms, comfortably seating a large group for a formal occasion. Onyx is a naturally porous stone, so the inset should be protected from spills and cleaned only with non-abrasive products. The backlighting system should be checked by a qualified electrician during installation. As one of Francesco Molon's Italian dining tables, it is designed as a centrepiece in its own right. It reads as much as a lit sculptural object as a place to dine. It is built for interiors where entertaining on a grand scale is a genuine part of daily life.
