Tribe is a family of six stackable circular forms, bowls and vases, presented by Bitossi Ceramiche in 2007. Each piece is wheel-thrown in refractory white clay and finished with a velvety matte glaze. The black and scarlet red version was added to the original colour range. A contrasting glossy and matte version followed in night blue, brown and ochre yellow.
Arik Levy translates concepts into products and spaces into experiences. With L Design, his multidisciplinary studio in Paris, he moves from sculpture and installations to everyday industrial products. His studio has received major design awards, including five Red Dot Design Awards. Bitossi Ceramiche makes Tribe in Montelupo Fiorentino, where the company was founded in 1921.

The Bitossi Ceramiche TRIBE centerpiece by Arik Levy is a low, solid piece, like a small architecture. A broad circular body with a bevelled edge rests on a stepped base. The wheel-thrown walls show the fine scratched texture of Tribe, a sign of craftsmanship. The version shown pairs a matte black exterior with a glossy scarlet red interior. It is produced in a limited edition of 199 pieces. It can hold fruit, or stand empty as a pure sculptural form.
