Designed in 2004, this collection reflects the unmistakable, playful style of the Milanese Memphis collective. It consists of four vases made with both wheel-throwing and slip-casting techniques. Each vase is composed of several elements and comes in two versions: one with multicoloured decorations, the other in monochrome matte white. In 2016 the collection was reissued in a limited edition of 299 pieces.
George J. Sowden is a British designer and architect, known for co-founding the Memphis Group with Ettore Sottsass. In 1981 he founded his own studio, Sowden Design, creating objects that range from mass-market electronics to artisanal limited editions. Bitossi Ceramiche makes this vase in Montelupo Fiorentino, the Tuscan town where the company was founded in 1921. The green and yellow tones bring energy to a bookcase or a hallway table. Grouped with the other Sowden vases, it forms a lively skyline.

100% Made in Italy
The Bitossi Ceramiche GEORGE J. SOWDEN vase stacks playful volumes into a colourful totem. A yellow sphere sits under a red cup-shaped neck. Below, a tapering white body is crossed by dark green waves. A wide coral red disc forms the base. The matte multicolour finish captures the ironic, joyful spirit of Memphis design. It is a luxury designer vase in a limited edition of 299 pieces, made in Tuscany. It looks like a small sculpture even without flowers.
