Designed in 2004, this collection reflects the unmistakable, playful style of the Milanese Memphis collective. It consists of four vases made with both wheel-throwing and slip-casting techniques. Each vase is composed of several elements and comes in two versions: one with multicoloured decorations, the other in monochrome matte white. In 2016 the collection was reissued in a limited edition of 299 pieces.
George J. Sowden is a British designer and architect, known for co-founding the Memphis Group with Ettore Sottsass. In 1981 he founded his own studio, Sowden Design, creating objects that range from mass-market electronics to artisanal limited editions. Bitossi Ceramiche makes this vase in Montelupo Fiorentino, the Tuscan town where the company was founded in 1921. The cool light blue tones make it easy to place in a bright, airy interior. A single tall branch emphasises its vertical line.

100% Made in Italy
The Bitossi Ceramiche GEORGE J. SOWDEN vase is the tallest of the series, a slender spindle that swells gently in the middle and rises with elegance. Light blue waves flow across a white body, like clouds in a summer sky. A coral red ring crowns the neck, and a red and cream disc forms the base. The matte multicolour finish keeps the colours fresh and soft, with the lightness typical of Memphis. It is a luxury designer vase in a limited edition of 299 pieces, made in Tuscany.
